Why We Built This Site
South Carolina gives the public access to many court and government records, but Marion County records do not live in one place. Circuit Court uses Common Pleas for civil cases and General Sessions for criminal cases. Family Court handles divorce, custody, support, adoption, juvenile, and name-change matters. Probate Court handles marriage licenses, estates, wills, guardianships, conservatorships, trusts, and commitments. Magistrate and Municipal Courts handle many traffic, low-level criminal, bond, warrant, small-claims, and ordinance matters.
The Marion County Clerk of Court, Christy M. Gray, is the main local records contact for Circuit and Family Court files and also serves with Register of Deeds functions. Sheriff J. Brian Wallace and the Marion County Detention Center maintain jail, custody, civil-process, and law-enforcement records. State systems such as SCDMV, DPH, SCDC, SCDPPPS, VINE, SLED, and the South Carolina Judicial Branch fill in other parts of the records picture.

This is a privately run reference site. We have no connection to any South Carolina court, Marion County office, sheriff's office, detention center, municipal court, or state agency. There are real limits to what we can help with:
- We cannot file paperwork or send records requests on your behalf
- We cannot issue certified copies of any court document, deed, marriage record, divorce decree, or vital record
- We cannot give legal advice or explain how a specific South Carolina law applies to a specific person
- We cannot change a court date, clear a warrant, post bond, pay a ticket, remove an expunged record, or update a jail roster
Only the issuing court or official government office can provide a certified copy with an official seal. The document has to come from that office.
